John Allen, 73, Retired Highway Worker, Dies

John Allen was a Newtown highway worker for 25 years until his retirement.

John E. Allen, 73, of Newtown, a longtime highway worker, died May 14 in Danbury Hospital.

Born in Norwalk March 5, 1938 he was the son of the late Myer C. and Mildred F. (Kriewald) Allen. John Allen was raised in Westport and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

For 25 years, Allen was employed by the Town of Newtown Highway Department until his retirement. He was a member of the Connecticut Yankee Chapter Truck Club.

Allen was survived by his son, John C. Allen of Newtown; a grandson, John Allen of Waterbury; a step-son, James Tucciarone and his wife, Lisa of Attleboro,MA.; a step-daughter, Diane Kamerzall and her husband Jim of Daytona,FL; and four sisters, Jeanne Fowler of Willington, Joyce Fraser of Woodbury, Bernice Camp of Lake Helen, FL and Cheryl Infante of Danbury.

A graveside service will be held noon, Monday May 23 at the Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday May 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the , 58 Main St., Newtown.

I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires.
