Jack Obre, 77, Newtown Resident for 55 Years, Dies

Jack Obre, a data processing manager for Republic Foil in Danbury, dies following long illness.

Jack F. Obre, 77 of Newtown, husband of Mary (Doherty) Obre died Friday May 13, 2011 at Pope John II Healthcare Center, Danbury after a long illness.

He was born in Queens, N.Y. May 17, 1933, son of the late Harry and Helen (Hellert) Obre.

Jack Obre lived in Newtown for 52 years where he and his wife raised their five children.

He was retired from his position as a data processing manager for Republic Foil in Danbury. His greatest passion was living life through his children.

In addition to his wife Mary of 54 years, he is survived by his two sons, Peter Obre and wife Julie, and Michael Obre and wife Mari, all of Newtown; two daughters, Kathy Cunningham and husband Shawn of Charlotte, N.C. and Jackie Gomes and husband James of Cheshire; and eight grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Noah, Ally, Emily, Brooke, Blake and Grant.

Obre was predeceased by his son, Robert John Obre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown Tuesday May 17, 2011 at 10:30am.

Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
