In Memoriam: Robert Simpson, 65, Vietnam Vet

A former Newtown resident, Simpson's funeral will be Wednesday at the Green Funeral Home.

Robert H. Simpson, 65, of Danbury, formerly of Newtown, loving husband of 42 years to Sally (Walker)Simpson died on August 23rd at Danbury Hospital. 

Son of the late William Simpson Sr., Robert served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict on the U.S.S Fred T. Berry. He worked and retired from Western Connecticut State University of 25 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Robert loved his hobbies, U.S History and his collectables. He was a member of the Mason's Eureka Lodge #83 in Bethel,CT.

In addition to his wife Sally, Robert will be missed by his brother-in-law and best friend, Richard VanHouten, of Bethel, his mother, Nellie (Daniels) Simpson, of Newtown, his brother, William Simpson Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Newtown. His children, Shannon Dinsmore and her husband, Frank, of Danbury, Jamie Randall and her husband, Kevin, of Danbury. Five grandchildren: Devon, Mikayla, Jared, Jayda and Aniyah, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.

A Graveside Service will be conducted Thursday at 11am at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
