Rita Macmillan, age 72, beloved wife of Gordon Macmillan, died suddenly at Hartford Hospital on November 4, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born April 25, 1941 in New York City, she moved to Newtown, CT in 1972 where she lived for thirty four years. She worked for the Town of Newtown for over twenty years and retired in September 2007 as Director of Planning and Zoning. She and her husband then moved to Morris, CT.
Rita is survived by her husband Gordon; her daughter Susan Williams and her husband John of Morris, her son Gordon Macmillan, Jr. and his wife Karen of Hebron, CT; her five grandchildren Zack, Hanna, Nick, Sam, and Anthony, and her nieces Stacey and Dale. She was truly something to behold and she will be sincerely missed by all who knew her. She is now at peace.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 9th at 2:00pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT. Friends may call Saturday from 12:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the service.
