In Memoriam: Leon King, 69

Leon M. King, 69, of Newtown, beloved husband of Emilia (Centeno) King, passed away at Danbury Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2013.

Leon was born in Danbury, son of Sadie (Zenobia) King Bilka of Danbury and the late Leo A. King. He was a graduate of St. Peter School and attended Danbury High School. He had served in the US Army in Vietnam and Korea and had worked as a truck driver for the Hubbell and Rider companies for more than 42 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 60 and its color guard.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three children, Kimberly King-Gaita and husband Leonard, Sr. and Michael J. King of Danbury and Albert Centeno, Sr. and wife Mickey of Deltona, FL, two brothers Ronald King of Brookfield and John S. Bilka and partner John Kristovich of New York, NY, five grandchildren: Albert Centeno, Jr., Carrie Centeno, Veronica Centeno, Jessica Gaita and Leonard Gaita, Jr. He was predeceased by his sister Joan Bilka and step-father John J. Bilka, with whom he was raised and worked with in the family business, John J. Bilka and Son Well Drilling. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury, on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
