In Memoriam: Lena 'Lee' Sullivan, 86

Sullivan was a Newtown resident and beloved grandmother.

Lena "Lee" DeSocio Sullivan of Newtown, Connecticut died peacefully on Tuesday August 13th, 2013 with her family by her side.

Lee was born on April 16, 1927 in Yonkers, New York, the second youngest of five siblings. She was the loving wife of Frank Sullivan for 47 years and the devoted mother of Thomas Sullivan and wife Peggy (Redding, CT), Karen Lynch and husband Steve (New Hartford, NY), Matthew Sullivan (Centerport, N.Y.), Maribeth Tamulevich and husband Edward (Bethesda, MD) and Wayne Sullivan and wife Suzanne (Old Greenwich,CT.).

Lee will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her 10 loving grandchildren who were the light of her life, Kerry, Anne Marie, Patrick, Cole and Luke Sullivan, John, Jennifer, Megan Lynch and Nora and Edward "Teddy" Tamulevich. In addition, she was dearly loved by her 17 nieces and nephews. Lee lived and raised her family in Deer Park, New York for over 40 years before moving to Heritage Village with her husband Frank nearly 15 years ago. She held the position of manager of Geico Federal Credit Union, Westbury, NY for many years. Throughout her life she was involved in her parish communities especially, St. Cyril and Methodius Church(Deer Park, N.Y.), Sacred Heart Church (Southbury, Conn.) and St. Patrick Church (Redding, CT). Lee will be remembered as a deeply religious and faithful servant of the Lord, her family and her community. She will be deeply missed.

Friends and family may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday August 15, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, Redding, CT, Friday August 16, 2013 at 11:00am. Interment will follow after the Mass at Mt. Olivet Cemetery,Watertown,Conn.
