In Memoriam: John Fraas, 79, Korea Vet and Longtime Newtown Resident

John Marshall Fraas, 79 of Bristol, formerly of Newtown, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife Helen (Bowling) (Smith) Fraas at his side. He was also the husband of the late Lillian (Brophy) Fraas. 

John was born in St. Paul, MN on July 1, 1933 a son of the late Marshall and Jane Ines (Butel) Fraas. He was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and lived in Newtown for 46 Years. He had retired from Boehringer Ingelheim after many years of service. John and his wife enjoyed traveling. 

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Edward Smith (Krystal) of Enfield; a sister, Mary Rosenbaum of St. Paul, MN; two grandchildren, Zackary Smith of Chatham, MA and Hunter Smith of Enfield; and John’s beloved dog, Dakota. . He was predeceased by his sisters, Loretta Cunningham and Jean Fraas. 

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Asbury Methodist Church, 90 Church Ave., Forestville/Bristol. Burial with military honors are private at the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Asbury Methodist Church, 90 Church Ave., Forestville, CT 06010. The O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville has charge of arrangements.
