In Memoriam: Heloise Wilkinson, 98
Heloise Litchfield Wilkinson died peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at home in Watermark at East Hill, Southbury, CT. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Wilkinson in 2011.
She is survived by her devoted children, Kate W. McGarry (John) of Michigan, Peter A. Wilkinson (Kit) of New Haven, CT., Christine Wilkinson of Southbury, CT., and Ann W. West (Hugh) of California. She was adored by her eight grandchildren, John Eric McGarry (Michelle Wernli) of Manhattan, Andrew L. McGarry of Hawaii, Michael Wilkinson and Alicia W. Mehr (Joel) both of Washington D.C., Claire E. Aulicino, (Jared Goldberg) of Florida, Matthew Aulicino of Los Angeles, Sophia K. West of Colorado, and Elizabeth C. West of California. She leaves six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Kate Weber Tallmadge and her brother, Laurance Allin Weber.
Heloise was born on December 4, 1915 to Kate D. A. Weber and Herman C. Weber in Brooklyn, N. Y. She attended East Orange High School and graduated from Smith College in 1936. She was a dedicated early childhood educator in New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut. An avid quilter, she produced work that was collected by young and old alike. As a founding member of the Scrapbag Quilters in Newtown, CT., she was an inspiration to all who worked with her. Heloise also spent time volunteering in the community at the Newtown Library and local elementary schools.
She will be missed by family and friends.
