In Memoriam: Harry Walsh, 86

Harry J. Walsh, age 86 of Sandy Hook died September 5, 2013 at The Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Mr. Walsh was the husband of Rita (Gebeau) Walsh. He was born in Bridgeport on January 25, 1927 a son of the late John L. and Anna (Crinock) Walsh.

Harry grew up in the Huntington section of Shelton and served in the US Army during World War II. Before retirement, Harry was a carpenter for Union Local 210 of the Carpenters Union in Hamden and had previously been employed by Morganti Construction. An outdoorsman, Mr. Walsh enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son Jeffrey Walsh of Danbury; 2 daughters, Colleen Wallace of Woodbridge and Christine Anderson of Easley, SC; 3 sisters, Sally Schiffer of Shelton, Ann Bove of Bridgeport and Dorothy Pelletier of Sandy Hook; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown Tuesday Sept. 10th at 10:00am. Interment with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown Monday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
