Glenn Carl DeCesare, 61, Mechanic, Carpenter, Dies

Glenn Carl DeCesare, 61, of Newtown, a mechanic and carpenter, died Friday, Oct. 21 at his home.

Raised in Newtown and a graduate of Newtown High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a mechanic and carpenter, who also once worked for the Town of Newtown Highway Department, and in his earlier years was a volunteer Newtown Hook and Ladder fireman.

Born June 5, 1950 in in Bridgeport, he was the son of Salvatore C. DeCesare of Newtown and the late Katherine (Buhan) DeCesare.

In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother Kurt DeCesare of Newtown; two sisters, Kathy Kean-Cragin of Newtown and Linda Knox of Torrington; and nine nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday Oct. 25 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VA Medical Center, 950 Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT  06516.
