A Brooklyn native who made his home in Newtown died peacefully surrounded by family this week.

Arthur John Bennett, 92, of Newtown, an entrepreneur and sales engineer, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 2, 2011.

He was born June 1, 1919 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was the son of the late Arthur J. Bennett Sr. and Cecilia (Gallagher) Bennett, also of Newtown.

After graduating from Pratt Institute with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Art Bennett enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he met his beloved wife, the late Susie Lynn (Burns) Bennett. The Bennetts were stationed in Sicily where Art worked to streamline, for ship repair, the delivery of parts from the United States to the naval yard in Sicily.
