Dear Newtown,

My university just spent the last two hours in lockdown due to reports of a gunman on campus. It was easily two of the scariest hours of my life, but I know that those feeling cannot even compare to the terror and sorrow that your community felt on that awful day nearly a year ago. It was a day that I will never forget. I was volunteering at my hometown's elementary school in Connecticut when the news reached me. I decided that day that I will do everything I can in my life time to see reasonable, common-sense gun reforms enacted in our great nation. My devotion has not wavered. I will do all I can...for you, Newtown.
