26 in 2013 for Sandy Hook

Newtown resident running 26 different events in 2013 for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Hello Patch Community-

My name is Lindsay Knauf and I have been a resident of Newtown since the age of 7.  My brother is a teacher at the high school, my parents still live in the house that I grew up in and my own son is now starting his education in Newtown over at  daycare in town.

My ties are tight to this community and my heart, like so many, is broken over the events of December 14th. I've decided that I need to do something to help and this is how I am choosing to do it.

I am committing to running 26 different events in 2013.  One run to honor one life that we lost.  I will wear a shirt bearing the name of one single victim at each race so that those around me are reminded of the wonderful and precious people that we are now missing in our town.

I will be collecting donations for the endeavour, but I will not be taking a single cent for race entry fees, clothing, shoes, socks, etc.  All proceeds will go directly to The United Way Sandy Hook Support Fund.I have set up a blog if anyone would like to follow me on this journey.

I will be posting frequently with new information about the races that I have coming up, who I will be running for, pictures of the events that I have completed, and so forth.

The website address is here: http://26in2013forsandyhook.blogspot.com/

My first race is January 27 and I will be running for Charlotte Bacon.Thank you in advance for your support.  I can't tell you how much it means to me.

All my love - Lindsay Knauf

I remember years ago that not all of the information about the Kennedy death and assassination wouldRead More not be unsealed until 2017, so why not be able to seal the records of these deaths for the same amount of time?

To further support my support of Aurelia, the letter above states it was the New York Post thatRead More wanted the details. Good for you town clerk! I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. What clowns.- http://ctcouncilfoi.org/

Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires. This is much ado about nothing. http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Newtown-officials-withhold-death-certificates-4526713.php
