Fight With Cindy at Pub 25 This Saturday, Nov. 10th

This is an event to generate awareness for Metastatic Melanoma for Cindy Miller who was diagnosed seven months ago.

Pub 25 American Grille is hosting a fundraising event this coming Saturday, November 10th, from 5PM til close for a local Newtown mother, Cindy Miller, who is battling metastatic melanoma which is an incurable yet treatable disease. Cindy, diagnosed seven months ago, is the mother of three Newtown children; Kristine, Steven and Taylor.

Cindy has been undergoing treatment through trial therapies and subsequently one FDA approved drug at Yale's Smilow Cancer Center. Insurance is a stress with the high deductible plans and the limitations as to what insurance will agree to is overwhelming at this time.

"This event means an incredible amount to my family and myself," said Kristine Vichiola, one of Cindy's daughters who along with close family and friends is organizing the event. "I never dreamed of so much generosity from others. My mom is a fighter, and I will continue to fight along side her as long as it takes to beat this awful disease."

The event will take place at Pub 25 (266 South Main Street, Newtown) and will also utilize the space next to the restaurant (the old Zumba location) to accommodate Pub25's normal dinner crowd and those who will be attending the event.

Pub25 part-owner Kurt Popick said, "We're extremely excited to host this event for such a great local family. The community has welcomed us with such open arms over the past year since opening, and we're happy to be able to give back and support such a great cause. Cindy is a strong woman and we know the community will rally behind her."

Pub 25 is donating the space, hor d'oeuvres and the first beer/wine drink for those over 21. Silent auctions, raffles and live music will all be a part of the night.

Cindy's son Steve Vichiola talked about the importance of his mother focusing on beating the disease. "Having so many family and friends coming to together to take the financial burden away from my mother, it means the world to me. To allow her to concentrate on getting rid of the cancer without any other issues to worry about and relieve some stress during this time would be amazing."

The community has already rallied as dozens of silent auction items and raffle prizes have been donated to the event including tickets to the Trans Syberian Orchestra, Jets tickets, a Mickey Mantle authenticated signed photo, landscaping packages, an in ground pool opening,  signed sports memorabilia and tons of local merchant gift cards, baskets and MORE!

But now it's about getting people out and raising as much money as possible!

Leigh Richardson will play from 5PM - 8:30PM while DJ Roc will cap the night off beginning at 9PM. Both Richardson and DJ Roc are donating their time. Josh Guiles, a professional photographer, is also donating his time to capture the event. Those interested in supporting the cause, however are unable to attend the event, can contribute at fightwithcindy.com.

NOTES:  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 from 5PM - 9PM which will get you hor d'oeuvres, your first wine or beer on Pub25, live music & a Melanoma awareness bracelet. A $5 donation will be accepted to enter after 9PM.
