Newtown Baseball Opens Spring Season

Players gather for fun-filled afternoon.

Newtown Baseball opened the spring season with a celebration for all players on Saturday, April 21 at Glander Field.

After a brief ceremony that included remarks by Newtown Baseball President Randy Dieckman, the singing of the National Anthem by NHS junior Michelle Spineda, and a group rendition of Take Me Out to the Ball Game, players gathered with their coaches and teammates to receive their new uniforms. From there, players from the older divisions took a turn at throwing and fielding with members of the NHS freshman baseball team, while the younger players participated in a series of fun, skills-based games. It was a great start to what will surely be a great season.
