Newtown outlasts Marlboro in third round of the Cal Ripken 9U New England Regional Tournament.

In the third round of the Cal Ripken 9U New England regional tournament, the Newtown Renegades beat Marlboro, Massachusetts, 13-8.

The Renegades offense was punctuated by a series of extra base hits. Matt Bradbury went 3 for 4 with a triple. Joey Rios went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple. Connor Haywood went 2 for 2 with a double. Josh Taylor tripled, and Dillon Robinson doubled.

Joey Rios, Josh Taylor and John Godino combined on the mound for the win.

The Renegades next face South Plymouth, Massachusetts in the fourth round of the double elimination tournament. They are now 2-1 in tournament play, having won one and lost one in the first two rounds of the tournament (see related ).
