Diamond Notes: Renegades End Run for New England Regional Tournament Title

New Hampshire knocks out Newtown in the semi-final round of the Cal Ripken 9U New England Regional Tournament.

In the semi-final round of the Cal Ripken 9U New England regional tournament, the Newtown Renegades lost to Seacoast, New Hampshire, 10-4.

Strong pitching and solid defense from New Hampshire held the Renegades to six hits all game. Joey Rios had two base hits, while Josh Taylor, John Godino, Dillon Robinson, and Will Swift each singled.

Aggressive base running kept the Renegades infield working – highlighted by left fielder Shaine Luzietti who snagged a pop fly in foul territory for an out in the second inning.

Josh Taylor, Will Swift and Joey Rios combined on the mound for the Renegades.

The Renegades finished 3-2 in tournament play.
