Dear Santa, Love, God

A letter to Santa from God explaining the Newtown Tragedy

December 24, 2012

Dear Santa,

I pray I find you in good health tonight Sir. I smile from above watching your travels each Christmas Eve as you spread so much joy to my children below. I know you have traveled far and wide this beautiful evening and I am sure you are tired and bit perplexed. I have to explain why there are several extra presents remaining in your bag this evening.

Those packages were all to be dropped off in Newtown per your original plan. I know the Elves checked the Naughty and Nice List and every finely wrapped gift was to go to a child on your Nice List. Those children were sweet and kind and quite brilliant in so many ways. But I had to call them HOME to HEAVEN suddenly and without warning.

There is Jessica with her love of horses and Daniel's flaming red hair would have looked perfect under a fire fighter's helmet and Emilie was so artistic and such a loving little girl who lit up the room when she entered. Olivia always impressed the adults with her perfect manners. She loved her Girl Scouts and thrived with her art and dance lessons. Noah who loved his tacos had eyelashes that were the envy of every woman who ever met that gentle young man. His twin sister was his best friend in this world. Chase was so proud of winning his first mini triathlon. I know you had his two front teeth in one of your gifts for him. Avie , the California Girl, with her curly hair loved her horseback lessons and Allison was so artistic and she thrived doing random acts of kindness. Then there was Jack with his love of sports especially the Giants and Charlotte was a curly haired red head who loved her dresses and her school.

Dylan had dimples and beautiful blue eyes and the most mischievous grin and Jesse was an adorable young man who loved the farm and riding the horses. My beloved Ana had the voice of an angel and she loved to sing and James with his hair all spiked out would sing out as loud as he could and could swim like a fish. My darling Grace in her pink outfits was artistic and loved her sports and Benjamin was Daddy's little man helping with the chores around the house. Josephine, called Joey, loved to ride bikes and set up lemonade stands. She dealt so well with her autistic challenges and gave the best hugs of all. Madeleine was so quiet and shy but would light up she saw animals, especially a dog and Catherine all decked out in pink was also an animal lover but her favorite thing in all the world was spending time with her brother. And my darling Caroline would dance everywhere she went.

The adults were just as precious to me. Each of them laid down their lives to try to save these precious children. Miss Vicki – an angel on earth and a hero to many of my children. Her spirit on earth will be sorely missed. Miss Dawn thrived on her entire experience at the school with all the kids and it showed in her smile. Miss Mary who tried to stop the shooter which is oh so typical of her. She worked with all the children to work through problems and her final move was to to try to stop a problem. She felt she was doing MY work – and she was. Miss Lauren brought heavenly music to the Earth. Miss Rachel won so many hearts there on earth. I have wrapped her boyfriend in my loving arms to to help ease his pain because he was excited to ask her to marry him this very night. Miss Anne Marie laid down her life for her children as she tried to save her students. Each of these ladies were angels on earth sent to protect those precious children until I had to call them Home.

And Nancy, dear Nancy, who was the mother of the shooter. She struggled so hard to work through her son's issues by involving him in so much in this life. And while you may feel it wrong to mention Adam I must. He was troubled and torn with his earthly bound challenges. I could not stop him from that horrible act that day. A parent, with grace seldom found, has forgiven him with a bit of help from above.

Santa I know your tears are flowing and your heart is broken. I'm sorry to cause you such pain on this special night. I needed those children and their teachers up here. They are now Special Angels with wings that will carry them through their new life here as they watch guard over those they loved there on earth. I have special plans for them that I cannot share but you will grow to understand later. I pray you will forgive me for ruining your plan for this evening and I hope you will understand that the tears you are shedding are Liquid Love flowing from the glorious river of your huge, warm heart and your gracious soul.

God Bless you Santa. I Love you.
