Please .... our post is not for the purpose of advertising /selling dogs. We are offering our assistance to the Newtown, CT community. Please don't utilize this site to post that you want a dog. People are suffering after an awful tragedy ... the only focus here should be on them. Respectfully, Alisia / Highlander GSD

Is there any organized manner in which I could bring my therapy dog to Newtown? My dog is a Cockapoo, and we are from Wisconsin. We want to be of help, but I don't want just to show up and be in the way!

So glad to see people offering their therapy dogs to help console the Newtown community. I also have a therapy dog who works with children, but we are all the way in the middle of Kansas and don't see how we can help from here. And like Cyndi N, we wouldn't want to be in the way. I'm sure there are lots of therapy dog teams in your area wanting to help and I highly encourage your schools and pscyhological services to make use of their skills. My best to your community. I have a certified therapy dog that visits schools and libraries as well as hospitals. If any children or adults would like a visit from us, we would be more than willing to come over. We live two hours away, so the commute would not be bad and my schedule is very flexible. Please email me at kschwa@eden.rutgers.edu

To all of you who are offering your services with your dogs please know you are a special 'breed' of human being. In spite of the horrific tragedy in Newton we are constantly reminded of the degree of human compassion that exists in our world. All of you and your wonderful animals exemplify that compassion. Bless you and thank you.

Alisia, Your response to Ardith was not very polite. Ardith is not dog shopping, she is asking for some help and direction due to a disability. It was not right to shut her down the way you did. If you cannot be of assistance to her, there are kinder ways to say it. I applaud what you are doing in Newtown but that does not give you a right to downplay other's troubles.

Offers from a very compassionate group! God bless you all! I also have a Bouvier Therapy dog who loves to love children. Im sure all these offers will be well received in the months to come not just today, tomorrow etc. This will need long term support, love and assistance. Is anyone coordinating locally so we could all schedule with one person then wed know when we are needed, where to stay locally etc. Thanks and God Bless you all Cliff 760-217-5059

Johnathon & Ardith, I am trying to contact Ardith. The reason why that was posted was not to be mean to Ardith. It was intended to prevent people from posting on this particular site that they want a puppy and to keep the focus on the people of Newtown. If anyone is interested in one of our puppies they can use the contact info provided in the original post ... just not here. That's all I was trying to say. Sometimes people get off on different subjects and I just wanted to make it clear that our only intention is to help the Sandy Hook community not to advertise dogs. That's all. I think that was pretty clear and in no way was the reply rude. Again, our contact info was provided in the original post ....both telephone and email. So please lets keep focused here. Respectfully, Alisia

I, too, have been trying to find the right sources to help with my service/therapy dog, Ginger. She is my service dog as I use a wheelchair but she is also a facility/therapy dog and is extremely patient with children and loves being around them. If anyone gets info or we can be of help anytime in the near future, please email me at ctwolfpacksledhockey@yahoo.com. Thank you!
