Newtown HS Girls's Tennis Team are the SWC South-West Conference Champions, Grace Winans

The NHS Girl's Varsity Tennis Team are the 2012 SWC Champions!!! This is the first time in six years that the team has won the conference. Today's match was held at Middlebury Racket Club in Middlebury, CT off of exit 15. The girls went in focused and ready to win. It was decided that after either team won four matches the match would be over. With this rule in place it made every match count more than it had otherwise. Usually Newtown fans are spirited but always act as fans not fanatics. However, today no spectators were allowed to cheer since absolutely no one but coaches were allowed on the courts. Fans and teammates sat up in the windows with a great aerial view of all five courts. The first five matches to go out were 1-4 singles and first doubles. Everyone played their hearts out and in the end it paid off.
The team waited for the fourth match to finish. The set score was 5-4 Newtown in the second set. When the match ended, the team waited at the door to run out on the court and congratulate teammate Lauren Frazzetta who played second singles. An explosion of laughter, screaming, and pure happiness burst onto the court! Coach Maher and Asst. Coach Frazzetta were very excited and overjoyed. The coaches along with the players had been working for this all season. Coming up there is SWC Individuals, State Individuals, and State Teams.
Let's go Newtown!
