A Letter From Heaven

A poem for the parents, grandparents, friends, rescuers, and loved ones of all those who passed in the horrible school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I am alive in Heaven!

Yes, it was horrific what happened at my school today!

But God assured, and it is true, that memory went away!

He prays that you can be strong. I surely hope you can!

Again, one day you and I will hold each other‘s hand.

His Son promised to tuck me in and read to me at night.

I hope you see the glowing star I use as my night light!

You know that I miss you, and Iknow you miss me more.

But God said, “Trust me.  I have good things, for you, in store.”

My wish is that one day you will smile and redeem the memories of me.

That’s the way our Father and I are praying it will be.

No credit to the evil that came to school that day.

Let’s give honor to the heroes that helped in many ways.

They are here with me this minute.  They told me to believe

That we will finish my school lessons, and I’ll continue to achieve!

Our Lord helps me to get snug, and Jesus reads to me at night.

I want you to know that Heaven is such a grand delight!

I understand if you cry, but keep our memories alive!

I’m in a special place, and send my love!  Please know that I survive!

Each night I promise that I will blow a kiss to you and dad.

Sleep tight!  Remember all our fun, and someday don’t be sad.

If the need arises, please lean on Our King…you can be sure

that I stand right beside him, wrapped in His love and so secure!

God told me he has good things in store, some magic up his sleeve.

And when you go to bed at night, this is what I hope you will believe!

Love,

Your child
