Oxford Ambulance Starts Fundraising Campaign for Jackson-Gellatly Family

Funds slated to help ease the burden of medical and funeral costs in the wake of Wednesday's tragic shooting.

The Oxford Ambulance Association has started a Go-Fund-Me campaign to receive online donations for the Jackson family, who are dealing with the loss of daughter, Lori Gellatly, and severe injuries suffered by mother Merry Jackson in the violent shooting on Sioux Drive Wednesday morning.

The fund raised nearly $1,500 in 18 hours from 34 donors but has set a goal of $25,000.

“The horrible murder of Lori, a young mother of two, and the terrifying attempted murder of her mother, Merry, have shocked and saddened us all,” Oxford Ambulance Director Jerry Schwab wrote on the fundraising site. “In this time of despair, when those intimately affected are searching for a way to move forward and heal, it is our wish to alleviate as much discomfort as possible.”

The funds collected will be put first toward medical and funeral costs, and then toward Gellatly’s twin babies and two stepsons.

Along with online donations, checks can also be sent to the Jackson Family Fund, c/o Oxford Ambulance, 484 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT 06478.

Scott Gellatly, Lori’s estranged husband accused of committing the shooting, is being held on $2 million bond on charges of murder and attempted murder.
