How to Help Bring More Acts of Kindness to Newtown

To help Newtown Kindness's Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Awards, click over to their Patchworks page.

Charlotte Bacon loved animals and the color pink. So it's no surprise Newtown Kindness, the organization founded in her memory, adopted pink as their color. You've probably seen the organization around town and read about their good works on Patch -- including, most recently, a project to bring free lemonade stands to Newtown. (Read about its kickoff at Stop & Shop a few weeks ago.)

In Februrary, they hosted the first annual Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness awards, celebrating acts of generosity and love from kids across the country. Now they're fundraising for next year's awards.

Newtown Kindness took advantage of our new Patchworks platform to set up an online fundraising page for the awards. They write:

We are looking for special donors to sponsor a kind child. A committee reviews all nominations in the award program and ALL CHILDREN will be recognized in some fashion. No act is too small and we have proven that sharing, celebrating and honoring acts of kindness encourages other good deeds! ALL DONATIONS will go directly to a kind child, or a charity of their choice.

If you'd like to help, it's as simple as visiting their Patchworks page -- and while you're there, you can check out some of the many other worthwhile projects from members of the community.
