VERONICA'S ROOM at Town Players

Halloween may be over, but the spooky season continues with VERONICA'S ROOM by the renowned playwright Ira Levin, which opens Friday, November 8th at Town Players' Little Theatre.

In VERONICA'S ROOM, the author of Deathtrap and Rosemary's Baby explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder. Boston University student Susan (Nicole Morin, Danbury) and her date Larry (Stephen Saxton, Ridgefield) are invited to the Brabissant mansion by its kindly caretakers, John Mackey (Christopher Bird, Newtown) and his wife Maureen (Elizabeth Young, Newtown). They've asked Susan to impersonate the long-dead Veronica Brabissant in order to solace the family's only remaining member, Cecilia. Dying of cancer and suffering from dementia, she believes Veronica is still alive and wants to make up a decades-old quarrel.

Once Susan dresses up in Veronica's clothes, the role-playing begins in earnest. However, things aren't always as they seem and the plot twists in VERONICA'S ROOM will delight - and shock - the audience. According to Chicago Theater Beat, VERONICA'S ROOM is a "truly twisted psychological thriller" and that playwright Levin "imbues [it] with his trademark themes of misdirection and hidden identities."

VERONICA'S ROOM is directed by Pam Meister Jones of Newtown and produced by Stephen Hoose of New Milford. The production crew includes stage managers Lynn Alexander (Southbury) and Marla Manning (Easton), lighting designer Nick Kaye (Bethel), set designer Timothy Huebenthal (Southbury) and light booth operator Becca Cardozo (Stratford).

VERONICA'S ROOM runs November 8-30. Curtain times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, with 2 PM Sunday matinees on November 17 & 24. Tickets are $20; $15 matinees. Reservations may be made by calling 203-270-9144 or emailing reservations@newtownplayers.org.

Please note that due to the mature content of this production, it is not considered suitable for children.
