The Resilient Life

Dr. John Woodall to speak at the Working Women's Forum.

The Working Women's Forum, an association of local professionals and entrepreneurs, will feature "The Resilient Life"
on Wednesday November 13 at The Villa Restaurant, 4 Riverside Road Sandy Hook.  Networking and light dinner begin at
6PM followed by the guest speaker.  For reservations email register at rsvp@workingwomensforum.net or call WWF President
Pat Marlin at 203-426-7022.  The program and dinner fee is $10 for members, $25 for non-members with a cash bar.  The group
will be accepting canned food, personal health and beauty items for the Newtown FAITH Food Pantry.

Dr. Woodall is Founder and Director of The Unity Project, a  resilience-building program for youth working with former child soldiers in
northern Uganda and in Newtown CT, where the Unity Project has its home.  Formerly of the faculty of Harvard Medical School, he is a Board
Certified psychiatrist with special expertise in post-traumatic stress disorder and resilience. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Woodall has worked to build resilience programs after 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the Newtown tragedy of 12/14.   Dr. Woodall will address the ideas that suffering expands
us, or contracts us. Growth is not a guarantee, it is a choice.  We can choose compassion when everything in us screams anguish and despair
and anger.  Through our struggle to find a compassionate way, we can spark a new kind of dialogue here and in the wider circle of the country.
