The Glass Menagerie at Town Players

A faded, tragic remnant of Southern gentility, Amanda Wingfield (Karen Pope, Bridgewater) lives
in poverty in a drab, gloomy St. Louis apartment with her children Tom (Miles Everett, Thomaston)
and Laura (Alexandria Clapp, Wilton). Despite – or perhaps because of – their mother’s attempts to give direction to her life and theirs, both Tom and Laura seek escape using different methods.

Tom uses alcohol and movies, while the crippled
Laura withdraws into herself. Ultimately, Amanda’s efforts to provide Laura with at least one “gentleman caller” (Chris Luongo, Bethel) end up causing the world of illusion the women have tried to create for themselves to come crashing down upon them and brings unforeseen consequences.

An exquisite family drama from the celebrated playwright Tennessee Williams, filtered through the memory of Tom, THE GLASS MENAGERIE is a show that, according to the New York Daily News, “should break your heart.”
