The Garden Club of Newtown is giving children a
unique opportunity for hands-on learning by offering a tree giveaway to
children accompanied by an adult at their booth at Newtown's Seventh Annual
Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 26th from 10 am to 4 pm at the Newtown
Middle School.

Tree planting projects are a visible sign of a
commitment to  improving green space and
community esthetics, and The Garden Club of Newtown is proud to partner with
the National Wildlife Federation and participate in this national effort to
engage children to plant, care for and learn about trees.

 A variety of
trees that are beneficial to wildlife have been donated to the garden club by
the NWF as part of their Trees for Wildlife program because planting a tree is
a perfect opportunity for children to learn about the environment. A single
tree can clean the air and water, provide food for wildlife and humans and
serve as shelter.  It can serve as a microcosm
of a sustainable environment and teach kids a lot about the world they live in.

Founded in 1955, The Garden Club of Newtown's
mission is to inspire interest in horticulture and artistic design, to support
conservation of natural resources and to promote civic beauty. The club
contributes to the community in many ways, including donations to the Newtown
Scholarship Association, the Newtown Fund and the Newtown Forest
Association.  Please visit our website at
