Auditions for VERONICA'S ROOM at Town Players

Town Players of Newtown announces auditions for VERONICA'S ROOM by Ira Levin on Monday and Tuesday, September 16 & 17, from 7:30 - 9 PM.

In this chilling mystery thriller by the author of Deathtrap and Rosemary's Baby, we explore the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder. Students Susan and Larry find themselves invited to the Brabissant mansion by its licentious caretakers, the lonely Mackeys. Amazed by Susan's strong resemblance to Veronica Brabissant, the long-dead daughter of the family for whom they work, the older couple gradually convince her to impersonate Veronica briefly to solace the only living Brabissant, an addled sister who believes Veronica alive. Once dressed in Veronica's clothes, Susan finds herself locked in the role and locked in Veronica's room - or is she Veronica, pretending to be Susan?

Pam Meister Jones of Newtown will direct.

The production calls for two men and two women. A credible Irish brogue for the older man and woman and a regional Boston accent for all characters are essential.

Auditioners should read the play in advance and be prepared to read from sides from the script. No appointment is necessary. All roles are available and open to professionals and amateurs alike.

Rehearsals begin the week of September 22. Performances begin November 8, Friday and Saturday evenings (including Thanksgiving weekend), with two Sunday matinee performances, for a total of 10 performances through November 30.
