Connecticut Lottery raises Powerball jackpot to $325 million

Editor's note: Nope, you likely didn't win the Feb. 11, 2012 drawing. Lottery officials announced that someone who bought a Powerball ticket in Rhode Island won the $325 million jackpot. The winning numbers drawn Saturday night were 1-10-37-52-57 PB-11. The next drawing on Wednesday will be for a $40 million jackpot. Below is the original press release issued by lottery officials

Spurred by heavy sales - at $2 a ticket - the Feb. 11 Powerball jackpot was raised to an estimated annuity value of $325 million and a $202.9 million cash prize – the largest cash jackpot in the game’s history.

"It’s exciting to see the Powerball jackpot rise to the $325 million level, and we're hoping to see a CT player win that prize Saturday night,” said CT Lottery President and CEO, Anne M. Noble.

Powerball is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59pm. Tickets for this Powerball drawing will be available until 9:50pm Saturday at more than 2,700 Lottery retailers statewide. Because demand for tickets will continue to rise until tomorrow night’s drawing, players are advised to purchase tickets early to avoid the last-minute rush.

The overall odds of winning a Powerball prize are 1 in 31.8 based on a $2.00 play.  Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175,223,510 million.  Purchasers must be 18 or older.  The Lottery also reminds players to please play responsibly.

I remember years ago that not all of the information about the Kennedy death and assassination wouldRead More not be unsealed until 2017, so why not be able to seal the records of these deaths for the same amount of time?

To further support my support of Aurelia, the letter above states it was the New York Post thatRead More wanted the details. Good for you town clerk! I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. What clowns.- http://ctcouncilfoi.org/

Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires. This is much ado about nothing. http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Newtown-officials-withhold-death-certificates-4526713.php
