Metro-North's New Haven Line Ridership Up By 5.9 Percent

The railroad also saw an increase in trips outside of morning and evening peak hours, according to the Stamford Advocate.

 

Overall ridership on the New Haven line of Metro-North Railroad increased by 5.9 percent during the first four months of the year, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Immediate trips outside of the railroad's morning and evening peak hours also grew by 10 percent from 1.34 million to 1.5 million. Metro-North Vice President of Planning Robert MacLagger told the Advocate that increase could be attributed to residents' growing confidence in the economy and rising employment opportunities.

David Lee, general manager of CT Transit, which saw a 6.1 percent rise in Stamford ridership in the past year, also attributed the rising use of public transportation to higher gasoline prices.

The New Haven line also saw an by 2.7 percent compared to the year before.
