In Fairfield County, Newtown's Where The Bears Are

Newtown has had more recent reported bear sightings than any other town in Fairfield County, according to data from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

 

According to data from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) -- the agency that tracks Connecticut's wildlife -- Newtown has had more bear sightings since April 2012 than any other town in Fairfield County.

A bear was photographed and filmed in nearby Brookfield Friday, the second over the last year according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), the agency that tracks Connecticut's wildlife.

According to the DEEP, 2,776 bears sightings were reported between April 2012 and February 2013, with the most coming from Farmington (239), Burlington (200) and Torrington (168).
