Hundreds Line to Mourn in Thursday Morning Services

Friends and family remembered Jesse McCord Lewis and Benjamin Andrew Wheeler, two Sandy Hook Elementary School students.

Lines stretched down the sidewalks on Main Street in Newtown Thursday morning as calling hours and funerals were underway for two Sandy Hook Elementary children who lost their lives Friday. Police were present at both services, and flags and placards hung around the entrance of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Jesse McCord Lewis, 6, was one of the young victims of Friday's shooting. Calling hours for Jesse were from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Honan Funeral Home. Mourners waited as far away as Schoolhouse Hill Road to pay call in the service. Private services and burial took place earlier.

Benjamin Andrew Wheeler, 6, was one of two sons of David and Francine Wheeler. His family moved to Newtown in 2011. Calling hours for Benjamin were yesterday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and his funeral was at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Ben's family has been in town, making meaningful contributions to the Newtown arts community since 2007. Please fact check.
