Ed Sullivan's House Goes on the Market

The home where the Beatles swam in the pool is for sale in Southbury

It may have been some time since Ed Sullivan, who died in 1974, has lived in this house, but no doubt, in its heyday, many celebrities crossed the threshold.

The house, listed at $460,000 and located at 367 North Georges Hill Road in Southbury, is 3,500 square feet on 1.81 acres, and appears to be a jewel of local celebrity real estate.

The house was built in 1920, but the details are timeless.  The wide beam floor boards and beams, as well as the slate floor in the kitchen, are as appealing today as they were in the 1956 copy of American Home.

Some of the other features include a wet bar, three generous sized bedrooms and a downstairs den, stone fireplace in the living room, remodeled kitchen, all on a level, wooded lot.

Check out the original article, and the following photos of the way the house looks today.

The information was provided by Joan Salbu of Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Newtown.

What, nol picture of the pool?? Ed Sullivan was such an iconic figure; it's amazing this house is available for so little, when so many of its original details are intact. It may not be in keeping with today's style, but I can see the charm and warmth it conveys.

Hmmm. I will see if I can come up with a photo of the pool. Check back later today.
