Preview: Board of Ed Will Turn to Budget at Meeting

The meeting is one of several scheduled in Newtown tonight and throughout the week.

Newtown's Board of Education has listed discussion and possible action on the 2013-2014 budget on its agenda for Tuesday night's meeting, 7:30 p.m. at Reed Intermediate School. The timeline for the continuing conversation on next year's budget had been in doubt due to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and the town's web site had listed several cancelled and rescheduled meetings.

The Board of Education meeting is one of nine scheduled for Tuesday night, according to the site, including a special Board of Police Commissioners meeting (6 p.m. at Town Hall South.)

At another meeting, Newtown resident and Patch blogger Michael Trevail told Patch he would speak to the Parks & Recreation commission on a proposal to rename the Newtown Skate Park after Chris Mulligan, a 20-year-old Newtown resident who died in November when he was hit by a car on Route 25. The agenda for the meeting (also 6 p.m. at Town Hall South) does not specifically list any new business.
