November is National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month!

November is National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month. In the United States alone, there are nearly 15 million Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers.

Yes...fifteen million caretakers...

I encourage you all to familiarize yourselves with the symptoms and characteristics of this horrendous disease! I posted a link to the Alzheimer's Association, in the event you or anyone you know, may be questioning changes in behavior. Diagnosis is still an amazingly difficult process, hindered by denial and fear.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the family caregivers, who give all of themselves, to help your loved ones through the myriad changes you are facing! I encourage you to get help in your undertaking, as the toll on caretakers is almost as destructive as the disease its self! Keep in mind, you have family members that need you to be around and be healthy! Children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and many others need you to take good care of you! You are very important to them all, even though you feel the overriding need to be a selfless partner in the care of an afflicted mate or parent.
