Health & Fitness

Welcome to our Community

Hey guys!
So this is our first post for the patch, and we figured there would be no better thing to talk about (in terms of CrossFit) then what makes us who we are: our community. Below is a post from our blog on CrossFitRedZone.com on what community means to Coach Steph:
Thank’s to everyone who came out this past Saturday to support our amazing teams at the Relentless Throwdown. After competing this past weekend I couldn’t think of a better topic to write about then our CrossFit community. I am sure that we are all asked on a regular basis something along the lines of "Why CrossFit? I’ve seen those games on ESPN and it looks like a bunch of dangerous stunts performed by crazy fit people!" Well I can’t speak for everyone who steps into the box day after day because we all have different reasons for doing so, but this weekend reminded me of why I CrossFit. In a short few hours I had the privilege to witness some of the most amazing acts of kindness by not only our members and friends, but of the CrossFit community in general. I saw team’s thrive under pressure against all odds, like our scaled team coming from the bottom of the pack after the first heat and ending up placing top ten in their division. It was there dedication, communication and trust in one another that helped them fight back against the odds and prove something to themselves. I saw some of the most amazing professional athletes like those on Shoreline, North Haven, and Danbury show us all what dedication and comrade can achieve. Most importantly (at least for me) was on my own team. I still tear up thinking about how a group of people.. of friends, can lift one another up in both good times and bad. How just knowing that your teammates believe in you can change your whole attitude towards whatever challenge your facing. So yea, maybe we are all crazy health nuts with a sadistic side, but that isn’t why I CrossFit. I CrossFit for me.. I CrossFit for my friends, my family.. I CrossFit because I want to be a better person. I may not be Julie Foucher, but I’m closer then I was yesterday and I am a better person thanks to the people who have helped me get there. So then my question is "Why don’t you?"

Everyday our community challenges us to get better by giving us the encouragement to accomplish our goals. We love one another like family. So what does community mean to our Patch blog readers?
