Practice makes perfect
Everyone gets that feeling. You step in to the box, look up on the white board and think "crap.. (insert poorly practiced skill here).. why did I come." We aren’t perfect.. we have weaknesses, moves we would rather not see on the board. Whether it’s snatches, muscle ups, pull ups, double unders or anything in between the fact of the matter is that we all have things we need to work on. I hate handstand pushups.. seeing them in a workout makes me cringe, I feel like no matter what I do some days I get them and some days I don’t. But by incorporating them into my warm ups I have actually started to see improvements. Try coming in a bit early or staying a bit late after class, work on those skills and maybe next time you see (insert now REGULARLY practiced skill here) you will have a sense of confidence you didn’t have before.. they may still suck, but at least you can embrace it instead of dreading it right?
