UPDATE: Magnets now being sold locally at Queen Street Gifts & Treats, 6 Queen Street, Newtown.

As a Newtown mom of elementary-aged school children, the world came to a halt that morning of December 14.  After knowing my children were safe in their locked-down school, I could breathe.  However, every moment thereafter has been consumed with thought and prayer for the children and families of Sandy Hook Elementary School.  Feeling helpless and needing to do something, and with the encouragement (and donations) of my fellow mom friends, we created a magnet for cars to show our support and love for S.H.E.S. This magnet is being sold for $10 with the proceeds going to the Connecticut PTSA (Parent-Teacher-Student Association)-Sandy Hook Fund.

With a simple Facebook post, the first 500 sold immediately over the holiday break.  Orders are coming in far and wide.  SupportStore.com, the company we designed the magnet with, has graciously offered to sell the magnet on their website for the $10, with $8 being donated to the same fund.  This has helped out tremendously with all of the out-of-town orders.  And we thank them for all their help.

Newtown Public School parents will be receiving order forms for the magnets at the beginning of the week via their child's backpack. In the upper grades, it will be a PTA email blast.

Any other questions or concerns can be directed to SandyHookMagnets@yahoo.com. In addition to the website, SupportStore.com, during the next few weeks we will be in the community selling directly, and will update this post with specifics.

Thank you all for the endless amount of love and support for our sweet community.
