Tennessee Teachers Wanting to Help

Looking for a way to help

My name is Candace and I am an elementary teacher in Chattanooga, TN, as well as a mother of a first grader. I have a group of teachers who are ready and willing to travel to Connecticut to assist the Sandy Hook teachers with packing up their rooms, and setting up at the new school location. Setting up a classroom is a daunting task, and I'm sure even more so given the unthinkable circumstances. In general, we are just looking for a way to help fellow teachers. Please let me know if anyone knows of a way for us to reach out and help.

Thanks!

Candice -Here is something you can participate in -
SPREAD THE WORD: “Let’s Give the New Sandy Hook School a Winter Wonderland” Snowflake Drive – Like our children, no two snowflakes are alike. The CT PTSA invite you to create snowflakes to decorate Sandy Hook School’s new home. Be creative! All colors and designs are welcome. We know that children will enjoy creating art that can adorn the walls of SHS’s new elementary school. CT PTSA has been contacted from schools across the state and this is a project we can all share. “Snowflakes” can be mailed to: Connecticut PTSA, 60 Connolly Parkway, Building 12, Suite 103, Hamden, CT 06514, by January 12, 2013.

Hello, I'm an art teacher in NJ and am investigating doing the same. I can put up bulletin boards, paint a mural, unpack boxes, stock library shelves...whatever is needed. If any information becomes available as to how teachers can volunteer, please let me know. sycohen@wtps.org Thank you!

I'm a teacher in GA. Looking to find out ways to help, as well. Can help move furniture, boxes, etc. Have some other teachers, and even possibly some high school guys who could travel with me. We're out for Christmas break already and willing to help. scottieknollin@gmail.com

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
