Workforce Magazine Recognizes Urgent Care of Connecticut with 2013 Optimas Award Company Receives Silver in Partnership Category

BROOKFIELD, CONN. — The executive management team of Urgent Care of Connecticut (UCC) announced today that they have received a prestigious Optimas award from Workforce magazine, a business magazine serving the needs of human resources professionals since 1922.  The company has received silver in the Partnership category for its efforts in earning accreditation and the Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission, a national symbol of quality and safety in healthcare performance standards.

It was an arduous process, which took nine months to complete.  A multitalented team was assembled representing all aspects of the business ranging from operations, human resources, physicians, and allied health professionals.  More than 1,000 standards were divided among the group in order to evaluate the organization’s compliance.  “In any organization, it can be difficult to bring together a cross-functional team and have them successfully meet an aggressive goal.  Getting UCC accredited with The Joint Commission is the best group project I’ve ever participated in because of the outstanding level of professionalism, engagement, and passion the members brought to the table,” commented Beth Agen, MBA, chief performance officer and human resources compliance officer.  “The value generated by learning the roles and expectations of other team members and other employee stakeholders not only makes UCC a better workplace, but us better employees.”

Now in its 22nd year, Optimas award winners are selected by the Workforce editorial staff based on tangible business results.  Winners are recognized for identifying a critical issue within their organization and successfully implementing a HR solution that generates significant results.  “The Optimas Awards were established to celebrate innovative HR programs and initiatives,” stated Mike Prokopeak, editorial director of the Human Capital Media Group, which publishes Workforce magazine.  “Winners harnessed sometimes limited resources to deliver significant success, proving a strong HR function is key to a thriving organization.”
