Why Go: Come for the final show of the Stray Kats season. Talk with the cast and enjoy pastries after the show. This play is not suitable for children.

2. - Danbury
Where/When: Matrix Conference & Banquet Center, Fri, 6pm - 10pm
Why Go: Support the Women's Center, which annually helps more than 19,000 clients who suffer from traumatic events by offering counseling, education and intervention. Music, dinner and an auction will take place.
Pricing: $100 for event; $20 for a raffle ticket

3. - Oxford
Where/When: , Sat, 9am
Why Go: Raise awareness about colon cancer by participating in this event.
Pricing: $25 adult; $15 kids 12 and under

4. - Newtown
Where/When: , May 6 (sold out) - 7, 13 - 14, 21 - 22, 8pm - 10pm
Why Go: Come see this British comedy by Michael Cooney and directed by Brookfield resident Gene Golaszewski.
Pricing: $20 (This show is not appropriate for children.)

5. - Woodbury
Where/When: , Sat, 3:30pm - midnight
Why Go: Travel by bus to the Mohegan Sun casinos, while supporting the Creative Arts Studio.
Pricing: $30/person or $50/couple; includes $15 food voucher and three $5 bets

6. - Milford
Where/When: Milford Green, May 7 - 8, 10am - 5pm
Why Go: 150 Nationally acclaimed exhibitors and artists, a gourmet food court
Pricing: Free

7. - Southbury
Where/When: Center Firehouse, Sat, 9am - 3pm
Why Go: Buy a gift for mom while supporting the Southbury Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
Pricing: Free admission

8. - Southbury, Woodbury
Where/When: Platt Farm on Flood Bridge Road, Southbury, Sat, 8:30 - 12:30; , Woodbury, Sat, 9am - 2pm
Why Go: Clean up the rivers, streams and roadsides to keep our communities beautiful. Organized by the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and the Woodbury Conservation Commission.
Pricing: Free

9. Gnomeo and Juliet (G) - Newtown
Where/When: , Fri, Sat, 7pm, 9pm; Sun - Thu, 7pm ONLY;
Matinees: Sat, Sun, 1pm, 4pm; Tue, 1pm
Why Go: See this comical take on a Shakespearean classic.

I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires. I have neverRead More viewed a death certificate, I doubt there is anything listed beyond the name of the decedent, dates of birth & death, parentage, and cause of death. Town Clerk Aurelia is clearly in violation of her oath of office. Her job is not to be administered based on feelings. In doing this she is opening the town up to F.O.I. violations, potential litigation, and fanning the flames of the crazy conspiracy theories. To quote the article, "we feel its an extreme invasion of privacy for these families." Should someone take this to F.O.I. or put it before a judge the town will lose. Do your job as required by statute.
