CT Gas Prices Approach $4 Again

After dropping in price the last several months, the price per gallon is near the $4 mark.

Gas prices in Connecticut rose seven cents in the past week and now average $3.95 per gallon, according to price tracking website Connecticut Gas Prices. The national average is $3.67.

The price per gallon has been steadily rising after hitting a low of $3.60 in early July. The highest price this year was in April at approxmiately $4.15 per gallon.

Patrick DeHaan, an analyst at GasBuddy.com, blamed the price rise on refinery problems in the Great Lakes and California.

"While these situations are temporary in nature, it goes to show this nations dependence on domestic refineries,” DeHaan said. “While oil prices have gained in recent days, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for motorists: driving season will be over in less than a month and soon thereafter the EPA also relaxes gasoline mandates, meaning cheaper winter fuel.”
