Connecticut Gas Price Increases Slow, Near $4

After some sharp increases in the past months, the price per gallon rises modestly in a week.

The price of gas in Connecticut rose four cents in a week to $3.98, according to ConnecticutGasPrices.com. The last time a gallon cost $4 was in May.

The slowing price increases appear to be a national trend that could indicate a future drop in cost.

"The national average has finally begun to cool off after rising nearly every day since the start of July," said Patrick DeHaan, an analyst at GasBuddy.com, in a statement.

He added, "As the West Coast and Great Lakes see refining issues in the rear view mirror, as well as the end of the summer driving season approaching, we may see a new downward pattern develop which could see average prices falling- especially after mid-September, a pattern that could dominate the gas pump until the holiday season.”

The national average is $3.70 per gallon.

But, based on Obama's mindset, he apparently CAN make a difference. Obama Promises Lower Gas Prices and Defends Keystone XL Decision... http://news.yahoo.com/obama-promises-lower-gas-prices-defends-keystone-xl-212100715.html It kinda' makes it hard to defend the guy now, doesn't it, especially after he preaches he can.

The miracle recovery continues... NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street hit a four-year high on Tuesday as equity markets continue to grind steadily higher on hopes that central banks will act in the near future to stimulate their economies. The S&P 500 has risen nearly 3 percent so far in August. Much of those gains have come on a few outsized days while other days have seen small incremental gains. Volumes have been light as investors wait for central banks' meetings next month where policymakers are expected to take action to ease Europe's debt crisis and boost the economy. "I am looking for new highs in the major indexes," said Wayne Kaufman, chief market analyst at John Thomas Financial in New York. "Overall there is no one major negative that's out there right now that people are scared of." The perception of declining risks from the euro crisis has been a major factor behind equity gains. Yields at a Spanish short-term debt auction dived on Tuesday, while Europe's volatility index VSTOXX hit a one-month low, signaling a steady rise in investors' appetite for risk. The S&P 500 passed this year's high of 1,422.38 set in April to make a four-year intraday high and taking the index back to May 2008.

The fiat Dollar is the real reason for high gas prices. http://youtu.be/Cdd4selSYE0

"The miracle recovery continues" LMAO! The last time I checked uneployment was 8.4%(and thats the rate with their funny math), where it has been for almost four yrs.Obama said when he got his stimulus that it would not hit 8%. While the markets will help with jobs small business are where jobs are born. Like Newsweek said "He has to go"
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 03:56 PM
A few weeks ago, the ECB President Mario Draghi said that the central bank would do whatever it takes to support the Euro. That one statement, from one man and ZOOOOM goes the market? HAHAHAHAAAA!!!! It just amazes me how market moves are so news dependent... And some people still want to talk about fundamentals and a buy and hold strategy?
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 05:23 PM
When did we have the highest gas prices, over $4.50 a gallon? Guess who was President? Clueless George Bush. Facts are stubborn things and Conservatives have no use for them.
Big Family August 21, 2012 at 05:38 PM
NO Rosemary, I don't like high gas prices no matter who is in the White House, I don't like high unemploment no matter who is in the White House, I don't like one trillion dollars a year in debt no matter who is in the White House. Guess who in the White House...Clueless.
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 05:47 PM
NOW who's calling who ignorant? Rosemary's another clueless voter who actually thinks there's a difference between republicans and democrats and steadfastly supports whatever candidate her chosen party elects for nomination, regardless of their credentials, actions and knowledge.
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 06:31 PM
So Liam I assume your not voting for anyone, which is your right. Anyone who defends what this ahole congressmen said is totally clueless since you don't understand how ignorant and hurtfull those comments were.
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 07:15 PM
Again, you assume wrong. And where, in a single syllable, noun, verb, conjunction, etc, that I've written, do you see me supporting this moronic excuse for a state representative? I'm, again, merely trying to point out your outrageous hypocrisy (as well as that of many, many other's), that you're willing to chastise this single embarrassing display of humanity, yet you're incapable of seeing the unconstitutional ACTIONS that Obama (your messiah) has done, countless times. You simply cannot argue that the things I;ve listed above, are untrue. You simply cannot defend them. Yet one sad little GOP representative SAYS something... And all bets are off? Mr. Rogers would say, "Can you say hypocrite? I knew you could."
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 07:19 PM
I don't have the time to argue all your points but a forged birth certificate? I never took you for a birther. Now you have no credabililty too.
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 07:26 PM
THAT'S your only argument?!?!?! Out of how many other facts I listed? And you focus on THAT!?!?! I'm NNNOOOOOO "birther". There are far more threatening actions going on in Washington right now. ALL OF THEM caused by congress, which Obama signs into law. But, since you asked... http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57474406/arpaio-obama-birth-record-definitely-forged/ That's a link to a CBS article, which you might enjoy. Any sort of "news" that I link to, I have to make sure comes from a source that certain mindsets trust. If I linked to something else, you'd likely automatically cast it off as garbage. Here's another one for good measure, from Huffington Post. You hypocritical liberals like them too... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/17/joe-arpaio-birther-probe-_n_1681428.html
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 07:39 PM
Just because you don't like the truth... Doesn't mean it's wrong. I certainly am not ready to swallow the red pill that the elected president continually lied about his nationality, or that of his parents. But I WILL focus on how he's waved that off as being a waste of time, yet he feels okay to focus on Romney's tax returns? And before you go "assuming" again... I'm NOT defending Romney! I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than vote for a neoconservative con-artist like Romney and his wannabe' Libertarian sidekick. I'm, once again, merely trying to point out the hypocrisies in ALL of these career politicians, who find it easy to call out someone's words or actions and place them as a negative, yet feel free to go right on ahead and commit those exact same actions themselves, without any accountability.
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 07:49 PM
You are referencing the Arizona sheriff who is on a mission to prove the birth certificate is fake. Once again Hawaii says there is nothing fishy going on. And this you call trustworthy? Again your comparison does not hold water. Obama did release his birth papers, Romney has only released one year of tax returns. This is not a hypocrisy.
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 08:30 PM
Your facts are wrong, based on what I've read. And before I continue... You seem to know more about this than I do. I DID say I'm not a "birther", so please don't expect me to hold my own with your knowledge on this. But, from what I've read about it... You're facts are wrong.
Big Family August 21, 2012 at 08:39 PM
No Rsemary, Gov. Romney released two years of tax returns which is exactly what Sen. John McCain released with no oppoistion or media outcry. Perhaps Obama could show us how he was able to gain access to the fine Universities that he attended and maybe his GPA while he attended? I don't really care but so what. And Liam, man reading some of your comments(my eyes are bleeding so I can't read them all) reminds me of a little guy who was running around Germany in the early 1930s. Can we expect a book soon? I have a great title!
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 08:41 PM
Yeah right. Think about this. 50 years ago a child was born in Kenya but there was a conspiracy to hide that fact so he could become President of the US. Really. You have been listening to Trump too much. PS. Who has worse hair, The Donald or Hannity?
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 08:50 PM
You're still hung up on the birth certificate and STILL perfectly willing to overlook all the other offenses. Saying you don't have time to argue all the points is a poor excuse to get away from arguing all the points. Especially when you spend even more time arguing over just one of them.
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 08:52 PM
McCain had nothing to hide. We know Romney has money in the Cayman islands and Swiss accounts. Your comment Big Family questioning how Obama got into Universities smacks of racism. If Bush could get in, anyone could.
Rosemary C. August 21, 2012 at 09:01 PM
Those offenses are offensive to you Liam. , They are not offensives to all.
Big Family August 21, 2012 at 09:04 PM
OH! And there it is the RACE CARD!!! I knew it was coming but I didn't believe it was going to be played so soon. Thank You Rosemary, this is where the left's discussion ends. Well played!
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 09:33 PM
And that's it in a nutshell, huh? That's the difference between a brainwashed, die-hard, party representative and someone who sees things objectively, based on the written law that prevents our government from doing these things. Are you aware of the Constitution of the United States? I'm sure you are, but do you see it as OUR weapon against the government, which stops them gaining too much control, or do you see it as a quaint little piece of paper from days long gone? And before you answer that, let me give you the chance to think about it, when I remind you that your messiah swore to uphold it... http://youtu.be/knVOAr4U8l0
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 09:40 PM
So, you don't see the hypocrisy in this... http://youtu.be/bpwYh9TD6Nc, when he's dictated no less than 135 executive orders of his own, since taking office?
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 09:57 PM
THOUSANDS of the anti-Bush people were out in DROVES, attacking his illegally declared war, out in front of the White House, back while he was in office. The media railed into him non-stop, along with all those gung-ho liberals who used his act of war against Iran, as a means to attack him as publicly as possible. Well... Where are you now? Where are you people NOW, now that your gift from Heaven has not only continued that war, but began another one in Afghanistan, continued into Pakistan, Libya and Syria?
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 09:58 PM
Bush was called a “war monger” by liberals as he continued to keep us involved militarily in other countries. Obama has continued those same undeclared and unconstitutional “wars.” He has also started many others. We are now bombing and will continue to drop bombs in many countries. Obama is bombing people in Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, numerous African countries, and others. Where are the peace parades and editorials by the liberal left? Where are the complaints by the media?
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 09:59 PM
Where are all those bumper stickers with peace signs and Obama symbols? Where are the “Obama lied, people died” bumper stickers? Why aren’t liberals calling Obama a “war monger?” This is Barack Obama, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, who's bombing more people and more countries than ANY other president in the history of this country! And you don't agree that these are offensive?
Liam Heller August 21, 2012 at 10:02 PM
Liberals are hypocritical to no end, even when they know that their hypocrisy is completely noticeable . These politicians will certainly talk enough peace during election season, gather their hippie voters and then use their power to bomb countries so they aren’t considered “weak” when the votes are cast. Why were you protesting George Bush, Dick Cheney, and their administrations whenever they decided (without Confressional approval) to go kill people in other countries? Why aren’t you protesting now? You certainly can’t argue that the new “wars” that Obama has participated in are Bush’s fault? Why?
