— This pizza shop, which specializes in thin-crust New York-style pies, boasts many accolades, including being named one of the top 10 best pizzas in the country by Gourmet magazine.
But its loyal local customer base probably has been the key to its success since it was founded in 1997. If you are a fan of thin-style pizza and you live in the area, you have probably been to Carminuccio's or your neighbors have recommended the shop.
Located along South Main Street, the shop features plenty of parking and an outdoor patio area, although during the summer, the interior air conditioning offers a welcome respite from the heat. It's one of those places where you walk in, order at the cash register right by the door, grab something to drink and then settle down a step or two away at one of the tables to wait for your order.
Families come in to eat, as well as individuals, although many also order take out.
For individuals, one of the selling points is the ability to order a piza slice, rather than a full pie, and then add random toppings, including the usual peppperoni, sausage and mushrhoms and the not-so-common, eggplant, broccoli rabe, artichoke and baby clams.
Carminuccio's is located at 76 S. Main St., 203-364-1133, and is open every day from 10am - 10pm.
