Standing at over ten feet tall, and covered in bright orange and white stripes, you won’t be able to miss Connecticut’s new work zone safety mascot. The only problem? He doesn’t have a name.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Construction has announced its socially-driven campaign to help name the mascot, which will be making appearances at a numerous statewide events throughout the remainder of the year.
To get involved, post or tweet your name suggestions through September 9, 2012. To be considered, the name must be submitted on the CT Work Zone Safety official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CTWorkZoneSafety or tagged on Twitter with the hashtag, #ObeyTheOrange. The top three names will be compiled into a Facebook poll, which will be featured on the CT Work Zone Safety Facebook page from September 10 – 14.
“While this campaign is a fun way to get the message out, make no mistake that this is a very serious matter. Every life counts in Connecticut, and we are dedicated to providing the public with comprehensive information to improve motorist, worker and pedestrian safety in roadway work zones,” said Terri Thompson, Transportation Supervising Engineer for the CT Department of Transportation.
