Your 2013 Newtown Arts Festival Schedule

It's here -- the 2013 Newtown Arts Festival is way bigger than last year and offers everything from films to crafts to dances. Building up to this weekend's festivities, arts festival organizers are offering eight days of events, kicking off Sunday with a children's art party at Fairfield Hills. Here's what's on the schedule from Monday through Sunday. All events are free unless otherwise specified, but visit Newtown Arts Festival's website to check on reserving spaces.

• Monday: O, Heavy Lightness, 7:00 p.m. at Edmond Town Hall
  Reading, by professional actors,  of one act play about aftermath of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Written in in Shakespearian English.
  
  
• Tuesday: Youth, 7:00 p.m. at Newtown Congregational Church
  A short video dramedy about being a teenager in the suburbs, conceived and executed by Newtown High School student Max Galassi. Read more about Galassi's work on Patch.
  
  
• Wednesday: Elaris Duo, 7:00 p.m. at Newtown Meeting House
  A violin and cello recital from acclaimed musicians Larisa and Steven Elisha.
  
  
• Thursday: Broadway Sings for Newtown, 7:00 p.m. at Walnut Tree Church in Bethel
  Live music with a cast of Broadway stars plus local youth performing groups. The performance will benefit HealingNewtown. Tickets are $35.
  
  
• Friday: Rooster Ball, 7:00 p.m. at Fairfield Hills
  Eugene Dobb’s Nu Cullers Band provides music and Walsh Catering of Danbury provides food for this dinner dance at Fairfield Hills, under the Music tent at Newtown Arts festival. Tickets are $65 or $480 for a table of eight.
  
  
• Saturday and Sunday: Newtown Arts Festival, Fairfield Hills
  Artists' Market, Dance Pavilion, literary presentations and discussions in the Lecture Hall, crafts in the Make & Take Tent, and quilting, looming 
  and knitting in the Fiber Arts Tent; Sculpture Garden and food vendors. All day admission is $5.
