'Stars With Their Cars' Cruise Into Town [PHOTOS]

The Inn at Newtown's Absolut Gallery is featuring the work of Chris Osborne.

If you like cars, stars and art then you're in for a treat.

The Absolut Gallery at the Inn at Newtown is featuring the work of acclaimed artist Chris Osborne in an exhibit called Starlight Drive: Stars With Their Cars.

The exhibit opened Sunday with a well-attended reception, Osborne said Monday afternoon while hanging her paintings in the gallery.

According to a brochure, Osborne is the recipient of the 2007 National Society of Painters in Caein & Acrylic (NSPCA) Prize, the Classic Car Club of American 2003 Fine Art Award of Excellence, and the Glenmoor Gathering (Ohio) 2007 Best of Show Award.

Of her work the New Milford resident says:

"There are key things in American culture that absorb my attention, the fabulous cars of decades past, the colorful people who drove them, the Hollywood Golden Age, and the true American musical genres of Jazz & Blues. Any combination of these elements may appear in my work. After exhaustive factual research and the use of figurative models, I like to apply an imaginative view of history, bringing to the present a candid moment in time shared with the viewer."

The Inn at Newtown, located at 19 Main St., is donating all gallery commissions on art sales to HealingNewtown.

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
