On the Way: Passport To Sandy Hook

The following is a press release from Passport to Sandy Hook.
Passport to Sandy Hook Committee chairperson Maribeth Hemingway
today announced final details of the Passport to Sandy Hook event.  The 3rd annual Sandy Hook will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 11 am – 4pm.
35 Sandy Hook merchants and eateries are participating in the event.  In its third year, this is the largest event yet.

On October 12, participants will be able to pick up their passport at one of several locations, clearly marked with “Get Your Passport Here” signs.  As they walk from place to place enjoying the treats, samples, discounts or other activities, they will receive a stamp.  Completed passports will be entered into a drawing to win one of three prize packages.

“With so many new businesses participating this year, participants should plan to spend more time in Sandy Hook Center than in the past,” said Hemingway. “Come early, stay for lunch, and enjoy the day with your family.”

Additionally, visitors are reminded that Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue will be sponsoring a “stuff-a-truck” to benefit the FAITH Food Pantry.

“As we head into the colder months, their shelves are emptying again and they need our help,” said Hemingway.  “We would appreciate it if visitors can bring a donation to help us support this cause."

In addition to the returning musical talents of John Voket and the Bobby Donaldson Band, this year’s event will feature local artist Jim Chillington, Bocker the Labradoodle, Newtown Juggling & Circus Arts, Newtown-Strong Therapy Dogs and a live broadcast from i95 Radio.

“The Newtown-Strong Therapy Dogs have been calling Newtown home for many years,” said Ann Marie Cioffi, Director of Newtown-Strong Therapy Dogs.  “In the past year, we have brought smiles and comfort at many events.  We are thrilled to be at home in Sandy Hook for this event, welcoming people and celebrating all our community has to offer.”
