'Hold Your Breath' For Mysterious Sandy Hook Art Installation

For a little about Migrant Salon, check out their Patch profile.

Over the next month, Sandy Hook's newest gallery, Migrant Salon, is preparing ... something.

Owner Allison Hornak calls it "an ongoing, cumulative, community-based artwork," but beyond that, it's a little mysterious. We're intrigued, but not quite sure what to expect.

"For five weeks in the space I will present an installation titled, Do Hold Your Breath," Hornak writes. "The art piece involves a camera, computer, some cloth, nails and ten minutes of your time. To make this piece I need your trust and partnership."

The installation runs until Jan. 18 during the gallery's normal operating hours, Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All ages are welcome.

"Please come willing to have your picture taken," Hornak writes. "It must be noted, though, this will be portraiture with a twist. At the end of five weeks there will be a closing reception where it will be viewed, face to face, what came of our—you, the visitor, and me, the artist (in this case)—joined risk."

Migrant Salon can be found at 117 Church Hill Road, Suite D.
