Healing Newtown Debuts T-Shirt, Plans Housewarming

A month ago, Healing Newtown wasn't sure what the future would hold.

The organization, formed after the Dec. 14 shooting, takes responsibility for a treasure trove of artwork as well as the thousands of letters and gifts sent to Newtown after the shooting. Last month, they left their temporary location at Queen Street, with representatives saying they didn't know where they would eventually relocate.

This month has brought good news for Healing Newtown. They received a $30,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant for a new director; and soon, they'll be holding a housewarming for their new location at Newtown Congregational Church.

The housewarming, scheduled for Friday, July 12 at 5 p.m., features a family dance party with the music of Peter Ferreira and Ensemble, Outfunked and My Daddy's Trunk. (See their EventBrite listing for more details.)

The organization is also currently raising funds by selling a new Healing Newtown t-shirt on the website Ink to the People. With six days to go, they're 25% of the way to their fundraising goal. Check out the shirt here.
